Bernard Henry Sloan

Bernard & Peg were both wonderful people. I'm sure it was hard on their children to lose him. There were several details in the Obit of which I was unaware; one, that they experienced the early loss of a child. Now I understand (more of) why they were so kind to me when we lost our child. I remember their gracious hospitality with much gratitude. I am happy to imagine them together again.

Sad to learn of Barney Sloan's passing. Reading this story of his long and remarkable life highlights the joy he brought to so many. And proves the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" when thinking of his son, John Henry Sloan, to be able see in him, a glympse of his father. Barney's legacy in this world lives on. Heartfelt condolences to family and friends of Barney Sloan.

Barney was a unique person and one that I am glad to have known when he was at Short Milling in Kankakee. He and Peg (never met her, but read her columns many times) were salt of the earth and will be missed for a long time.
