Obituary

Bernice C. Schedin, 88, of Grand Rapids, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007. Bernice was born in 1918 to James and Anna Campbell in Superior, Wis. and moved to Grand Rapids, Minn., in 1920. She attended schools in Grand Rapids, graduating from Grand Rapids High School in 1937. Bernice was a cheerleader in high school and continued to cheer on sports teams throughout her life. She was united in marriage to Gerald A. Schedin in 1940. Bernice and Gerald owned Club Alamo and the Red Carpet Supper Club. Bernice was a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, and was known as 'Grandma' to many area athletes. Supporting and attending local sporting events was her hobby. Preceding her in death were her father, James Campbell in 1923; mother, Anna Stuckslager in 1969; step-father, Irvin Stuckslager in 1965; husband, Gerald A. Schedin in 1988; son, Gerald I. Schedin in 1975; brothers, Orval and James; and sister, Ruby Kelly; grandson, Richard Schedin in 1990. Survived by four daughters, Susan Young of St. Paul, Sally (Doug) Urbick of Grand Rapids, Minn., Louanne (Marty) Spitzner of Parker, Colo., Anita (Roger) Conrad of St. Bonifacius, Minn.; one son, Tom (Linda) Schedin of Grand Rapids, Minn.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. VISITATION:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, until the 11 a.m. Funeral Service in the Community Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids. Rev. Kimbrel Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Itasca-Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements by Rowe Funeral Home of Grand Rapids.
