On Monday, September 12th, God’s will ordered one of his precious children home, Bernice E. Thomas. Bernice was born on July 16th, 1959 to the late Raymond G. and Myrtle E. Motley of Roanoke. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Roanoke.
At an early adult age, Bernice traveled to New York City to explore the Big Apple life. Decades later she returned to Roanoke, VA with her husband the late John Thomas. Bern Bern held multiple positions at Salem Health and Rehab, along with other positions in Roanoke. Bernice was a funny, outspoken, kind and entertaining soul who loved to bless people with her home cooked meals. She enjoyed fashion on various levels and made everyone around her feel comfortable. She had nicknames for everyone!!! Bernice was very giving and loved some good music and to bust a few 2 steps while jamming. She was the life of the party.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Lisa Motley, Kizzi Motley, Omar Motley, Jamal Motley, Daynassia Bryant, grandchildren, Dayjour Motley, Daysean Motley, Omar Motley, Jr., Tyasia Motley, Tanaya Motley, Charles Stapleton, Assiah Robinson, Tialisaya Robinson, Larry Robinson, Skylar Groh; 11 grandchildren. Siblings: Shirley (Thomas) Reed, Odalis Harris (Rebecca), Gladys Motley, Loretta McEnheimer, Cynthia (William) Compton, Mary (Michael) Barnett, Tonia Motley, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022, 11:00AM at Serenity Funeral Home. Friends may visit at Serenity on Friday September 16, 2022 from 3-5PM for viewing.
