VAUGHAN, Mrs. Bernice G., of Richmond, departed this life December 13, 2010. She is survived by her nephews, among them, Wilbur (Vesta), Leroy (Cornelia Ann), James, Clyde (Joan), Leon and Jackie Gregory (Altena); other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street, where a funeral service will be held Friday, December 17, at 12 noon. Rev. Vincent Williams officiating. Interment Oakwood Cemetery.

My first memory of Mrs. Vaughan was seeing her at the post office and her being a mother like figure to the Black women who worked the counter. A wise sage always looking out.
