Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel Obituary

Berniece Donnelly Gilmore, 81, of Pensacola, FL, passed away April 27, 2023.

Born in Mobile, Berniece moved to Pensacola with her family as a child and lived in East Pensacola Heights growing up. She attended A.K. Suter School and some of those childhood classmates remained lifelong friends. She was a graduate of Pensacola High School, former employee of Bullock Tice Associates, long-time member of Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church and, more recently, a member of First United Methodist Church.

Above all else, Berniece was an amazing mother whose love for and devotion to her daughter knew no bounds. A southern lady to the very end, she was also a beloved aunt and cousin, substitute grandparent and loyal friend to many through the years.

She is preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Christopher Gilmore; her parents, James K. and Gladys B. Donnelly; brothers, Pat, Ray, and Ernie Donnelly; and sister, Sue Caffery.

Berniece is survived by her daughter, Kristi Gilmore; sisters-in-law, Lucy Donnelly and Susan Donnelly; brother-in-law, Rich Caffery; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A graveside service to celebrate Berniece’s life will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Bayview Memorial Park, with Rev. Emily Kincaid officiating.

The family would like to thank the caregivers who spent so much time with Berniece – they are now family, too. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in Berniece’s memory to First United Methodist Church of Pensacola or a charity of your choice.

Not sure what to say?

"May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant" (Psalm 119:76). You live on, Berniece, in the hearts of all of us lucky to have known you. And, yes, we will care for your beloved daughter, too. Rest well, sweetest of souls.

My thoughts and prayers for Kristi, Berniece's family and the BTA family. Berniece was the center of BTA at the reception desk. We would all stop by to talk with her and she would listen and share in the joy of the good stuff and would help us through the bad stuff. I have missed her since I moved away but she was in my heart.

My condolences to Bernice's family. What a dear, sweet lady she was. So kind and always cheerful. My husband worked at Bullock Tice, she was so thoughtful to attend his funeral, and had such lovely things to say about him.

Kristie. My condolences to you and your family ! And thank you for allowing me to be apart of this journey with your mom! It was a pleasure to care for Mrs. Bernice, my honey bunny, a joy to be around! She enjoyed our serious conversations about life, and great food. May God comfort you at this time of hour.

It's has been, such a blessing, to have known such a sweet and genuine lady.
I will miss her and will remember our times together, always.

A heart of gold stopped beating / Working hands at rest / God broke our hearts to prove to us / He only takes the best / Leaves and flowers may wither / The golden sun may set / But the hearts that loved you dearly / Are the ones that won’t forget. Those who touch our lives, stay in our hearts forever. You will be missed.

I just wanted to say that my aunt Bernice was a beautiful, loving, kind soul. I love her so very much. Condolences to my cousin Kristi, and all family members. She will be dearly missed and was a blessing to many many people. I will always love you. I love, Kellie.

What wonderful life long friend

Heaven gained a special Angel! You were a one of kind lady who brought so much joy to so many of us. Rest in Peace Bernice. Love Angelique, Christopher and Olivia
