Bert Arthur Franzon

FRANZON, Bert Arthur passed away peacefully on January 30, 2015. Born August 13, 1926, in Karlskoga, Sweden, Bert was raised in Southern California, and spent the last 37 years in Carmichael. Bert married Dorothy Owen Franzon in 1962 and they had 29 amazing years together before her in death in 1991. Bert began working in construction in his teens and had a long career as a carpenter and building superintendent before becoming a building inspector for Sacramento County. He was extremely passionate about building and inspecting and was known as "Bert the Hurt" for his firm adherence to the building codes. To his final days no matter where he went in town he could be heard to say, "I think I inspected that building!" Bert was a great friend who was known for his smile and sense of humor, and in his earlier days his amazing cookies! Bert is survived by his children Rebbecca Nelson, Erika Franzon, and Kate Sisson; brother and sister-in-law Art and Jeri Franzon; grandchildren Brooke and Courtney Jacobson, Erik Nelson, Cinnamon Paula, Amber Shea, and Shad Wells; nine great grandchildren; six nieces; and a great many dear friends. His sisters, Marie Friga and Lillian Pellerin, preceded Bert in death. Bert's family is very thankful to his many friends who stayed connected and sent good wishes right to the end. That meant a lot to Bert and all of us. Bert supported many charities, so if you would like to donate to your favorite charity in his name, we know he would love that. A celebration of Bert's life will be held Saturday, February 7th, 1:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, CA.
