I taught ESL with Berta at the Adult School in Watsonville. She was a wonderful teacher and colleague, full of energy and joy! Rest in peace, dear Berta.

Growing up in Watsonville, Berta had an impact on my young life. At age 13, a few of my girlfriends signed up to take an Improv Drama class that Berta taught at the YWCA across the street from Watsonville High School. She taught us all kinds of fun games and songs. We had a BALL. Those classes really struck a chord with me, and influenced my eventual career choice in the radio biz where improv skills are EVERYTHING.
