OWEN, Bertha C. - Of Burton, age 91, died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at her residence. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM Monday, September 10, 2007 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, con-celebrated by Father Tim MacDonald and Father Gary L. McInnis. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church Memorial Fund or charity of one's choice. Visitation 5-8PM Saturday, 1-4 and 6-8PM Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Vigil service will be held at 7PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Owen will be at the church from 10AM Monday until the time of the Mass. Bertha was born in Harrisville, Michigan on August 14, 1916 and was a resident of Burton more than 70 years. She married William A. Owen on October 19, 1935 in Flint. She was a Founding Member of Holy Redeemer Parish and a charter member of the CCW at Holy Redeemer. Mrs. Owen retired from Holy Redeemer cafeteria after 15 years of service. Mrs. Owen was a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital, enjoyed sewing and crafts. Surviving are 7 children, William A., Jr. of Swartz Creek, Connie and husband Jim Rothley of Flint, Dennis of Swartz Creek and wife Patricia of Fenton, Rita and husband Richard Russ of Grand Blanc, Michael and wife Paula of Davison, Mary Catherine and husband Byron "Butch" Bean of Grand Blanc, Theresa and husband Louis Koslowski of Burton; 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Christine Owen; brothers, Lawrence, Howard, Harold and Lloyd Dubie.
