Bertha Wilkie

FLETCHER-Mrs. Bertha Wilkie age 80 of Fletcher passed away peacefully December 1, 2014 at Universal Healthcare of Fletcher after an extended period of declining health.
She was born on May 30, 1934 in Yancey county, to Marion and Mary (McIntosh) Robinson. She married the love of her life, J.B. Wilkie Jr. in 1960 and remained his faithful companion for 45 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold Robinson and sister, Doris Bradshaw.
She is survived by a son, Alan Wilkie and his girlfriend, Elaine of Fletcher; a daughter, Phyllis Powell and her husband, Danny of Rosman, and daughter, Carolyn Dotson and husband Steve of Fairview. She is remembered as Nanny to 3 granddaughters, Aimee Powell of Rosman, Kristy Dotson of Fairview, and Kelly McDougal of Fletcher and 2 great grandchildren, Bryson McDougal and CeCe Williams. She is also survived by two sisters, Lois Welch and Joyce Soesbee; and three brothers, Dewey Robinson, Ray Robinson, and Dolph Robinson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 PM Friday at the Church Street Chapel at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Stacey Harris officiating.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of Steve and Carolyn Dotson, 1087 Brush Creek Circle Fairview, NC.
