Bessie Jean Bland

Bessie Lee Bland of Decatur passed away in Denton, Texas at the age of 68. Born on May 31, 1947, she was the daughter of James Wesley and Anna Lee (Bartlett) Armer. On February 20, 1961, she married Burt Bland in Denton, Texas. Burt and Bessie had just celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary. She worked inside the home taking care of Burt and their family and they were members of the Open Range Cowboy Church in Krum, Texas.

Bessie was preceded in death by her father. Those who will cherish her memory are her husband, Burt of Decatur, her mother Ann Ferrell of Houston, one daughter Tammy Walker and husband Archie of Slidell, four sons, Benny Bland and wife Susan of Greenwood, Wesley Bland and wife Paula of Slidell, Bert Bland and wife, Glenda of Argyle and Chris Vestal and wife Kim of Slidell, three sisters, Mildred Thompson of Garland, Sue Phillips of Houston, and Brenda Foreman of California, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
