The world lost a GEM and we lost a dear friend. Betsy was the best, kindest, sharing and caring person ever to be. I, Dotti, too loved clay but I was a dabbler while she embraced the art form completely and shared her expertise and talent with the world. Not only was she blessed with her talent but she was blessed with Marvin, her helpful and supportive husband. She was also a gourmet cook and baker. Betsy and I ran the NY bus from West Hartford and I eventually took it over to relieve Marvin of the annoying last minute phone calls. I had an email from Betsy on April 8, 2019 inviting me to see the Clay Studio, which I had intended to do now that we have moved to Tucson, from CT/Cape Cod. I was stunned to read of her death and extend profound condolences to Marvin and her family. I treasure the few items I bought from her years ago in CT where anyone who knew pottery knew who Betsy Tanzer...

My heart is with you Tanzer Family, I know how much she meant to you. I only met her in January and took some lessons from her, she was patient and very sweet. She will never be forgotten for her charisma , patience and knowledge. Love you Betsy Rest in peace
