I was good friends with her daughter Carla as children in Brookline and feel sad for her family’s loss. I remember her being a strong woman and mother. May she Rest in peace and sending love to her family

Saw the movie version of "Summer..." when I was a young girl. Ripped my heart out. Still revere the story this day. Rest in peace, my sister.

I was introduced to her book "Summer of my German Soldier" in one of my child development and family studies. I re-read it so many times after my class was over. It was such a moving and touching story of the physical and emotional abuse of a wonderful young girl. The sequel was even more emotional.
