Not sure what to say?

Bettina was only a few years older than we were when she started her career at West Point. She endured much at our behest, and inspred us all. Along with other terrific WP teachers, she inspired me to enter teaching, from which I retired after 40 years!

Mrs. Higdon, as I knew her, was my teacher many years ago at Fairview High School. I will always think of her when I hear someone ask where something is "at." She would quickly reply, "between the A and the T!" I also remember the time she said to me "come on old turtle, stick your neck out and give me an answer!" I am happy to have known her and to have had her as a teacher.

Bettina was a charter member of the Dripping Springs DAR in Cullman, AL. She was very active and supportive of this organization. She will be missed!

Bettina was my teacher at West Point and was always positive and an inspiration to me. She will be missed.

Bettina had a genuine interest in the welfare of her "children"--the name she so lovingly conferred upon all her students. Her concern was that we all reach our greatest potential. I am just one of many whom she encouraged to pursue an education and she, herself, never stopped learning. This past Christmas she wrote: "I am learning to play the harpsicle so that I can be in tune in heaven." Bettina, we are listening!

Bettina was a great lady. She was always helping students at West Point where my husband and taught two years - 1953 - 1955.

Every sentence I write , I always wonder how you would have critiqued it. I loved your energy and sense of humor and will miss your emails. We go back a very long ways....and I will forever be grateful for the encouragement you offered.

You will be missed. We enjoyed hearing you recite "Little Alice".We will always remember you as our high school teacher and friend.
