Belleville, Illinois - Betty Ann Bien (Johnson) passed away at the age of 79, July 27th 2025 in her home in Bellville, IL.
Betty, nicknamed "Betsy" by her family, was born January 8, 1946, in Belleville, IL to Dean F. and Louise A. Johnson, (deceased) and was their second child. She was the granddaughter of The Honorable Calvin D. Johnson and Margaret Johnson (Schuetz) and Fred and Genevieve Austin. She grew up and lived in Belleville, IL for all of her childhood and her adult life and graduated from BTHS in 1965. Married at one time in Belleville to Melvin Bien; it was there they raised their son Joseph Bien (deceased).
Betty worked at Walmart in Belleville and Fairview for 21 years, retiring early this year. Her work ethic plus the pride in her work was outstanding. The love of her family was immense, and she was our family memory bank; places, dates, and people.
She is survived by her two remaining siblings, Calvin D. Johnson II of Carlyle, IL, and Nancy Rackley of St. Petersburg, FL, plus her beloved cousins, nephews, niece, and great-nephews and great-niece.
She requested no memorial. We ask those who knew her to remember her kindness and generosity and to pass it on to others. We love you Sis and will remember you until we meet again.

Oh sweet Mrs.Betty,
I remember last year when I was going through a really hard time you always told me to keep my head up. When I had a break down at work because of how tough things were getting financially, you even offered to loan me money to help me get by. You always asked about my kids and told me I was a great mother. Always asked to see pictures. Asked me about my wedding plans and even offered some ideas to me. Your smile and kindness will be missed!

This earth has lost a very special lady. She had nothing but kind words for everybody. She always showed interest in others by asking how the family was, how's it going or whatever. Very pleasant lady. Betty, you will be missed.
