Betty Padgett Black

Betty was a role model for me because of her laughter, candor, desire to continue her education despite her age, and desire to soak up all cultural opportunities with great joy and a mighty smile.

I was new to Walterboro in the fall of 1984. I remember meeting the ladies of the Aphrodite Fine Arts Club when my husband submitted some of my artwork to the community’s art show that its club annually sponsored. I was excited to win some ribbons!
