Betty Jane Butler, 92, of South Charleston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 01, 2015. Betty was born February 4, 1923, in Kanawha County, to the late Harvey and Naomi Martin. She was a graduate of DuPont High School. Preceding her in death was her husband, Champe O Butler. She is survived by two sons, Terry C. Tinsley and Champe O. Butler, II and his wife Tianna; step-daughters, Sandra Thomas and her husband Bob and Sherry Updike and her husband Fred; four grandchildren,Sherilynn Updike, Jeffrey Thomas, Shane Tinsley and Rachel Myatezh, whom she raised, and her husband Alex; two great-grandchildren, Zackery and Riley. Survivors also include a brother, Charles Martin and his wife Cricket and a sister, Gail Dawson and her husband Bill. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Spring Hill Baptist Church for over 60 years. The family deeply appreciated all those friends and caregivers who have been so faithful and loving over the years. A Service to Honor the Life of Betty will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, December 04, 2015, at Spring Hill Baptist Church, South Charleston with Pastor Dean Chambers officiating. Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and friends may visit from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, Friday, December 04, 2015 at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hubbard Hospice House- West, Thomas Hospital, C/O Hospice Care of West Virginia, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W, Charleston, WV 25378-2536 or Spring Hill Baptist Church Mission Fund, 4707 Ohio Street, South Charleston, WV 25309.
