Betty CORTELLESI Obituary
She was born in War, W.V., and was a resident of Hampton for 32 years. Mrs. Cortellesi retired in 1995 after 15 years as an administrative assistant at Newport News Shipbuilding in welding engineering.
She is preceded in rest by her loving husband of 52 years, Emedio J. 'Mege' Cortellesi; her parents, William 'Bud' and Grace Buckland and her brother, Johnny Buckland.
She is survived by her son, Nick Cortellesi and his wife, Connie; her daughter, Nicolette Hall and her husband, Scott; her grandson, Nikolaus Breen; her sisters, June Buckland Hall of Pulaski, Va. and Anna Buckland Call of Hampton; a 'special' niece, Edie Ratcliff, her husband, Danny and their children, DJ and Brittany; Bebe's "pretty girl" Haylee; and many other loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special 'thank you' to Dr. Mashour Yousef and his nurse Danni Eldridge.
Friends are invited to visit from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home where a celebration of Betty's life will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.

I had the honor of being part of the wonderful Cortellesi family and experiencing the love and compassion they have for one another! Betty was a very strong and loving monarch of her family and she always made you feel welcomed.....she will be greatly missed by so many!

To the family of Ms. Cortellesi and especially to Anna Call, her sister -
As a longtime friend of Anna I would like to express my heartfelt condolences on the loss of her sister which I know must be especially hard because they were very close emotionally, but they were also neighbors and colleagues at Newport News Shipbuilding.
My thoughts are with the whole family.

Your mom was a very special lady who was devoted to her family and friends. She was loved by so many people. It was a great privilege to know her. Please know that I share in your grief and extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Nick, Nicolette and Edie,
I am so sorry for your loss she was a special woman. Your mother was one of the best mothers I have ever met. One of my funniest memories are shopping with her at Farm Fresh so she could buy her favorite drink - TAB. I will never forget her or memories I have spending time at your house when we were younger. Remember to take comfort and peace in knowing that she is with Jesus and your dad - what a wonderful place to be. Also, remember she loved all of you very much. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Nick and Nicolette--I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't have the pleasure of knowing your mom, but you two are good people and I'm sure your parents deserve the credit. She must have been a strong and caring lady. I know you will miss her and my prayer for you is that your sorrow will be short and your wonderful memories of her will be with you always.

Nicolette and Nick---Of course, I've known Betty all these years, because of Nancy marrying her brother John. I always enjoyed being around Betty when I visited..I was so sorry when I heard she was sick.. I'm thinking of you two and Anna and Jargo, I know you were all very close. Love you!!

Betty treated me more like a "Sister" instead of a "sister-in-law". We shared so many wonderful memories together with our children. I doubt if we were ever together, that we didn't reflect on the kids or our late husbands in some way. I MISS HER ALREADY! Nick and Nicolette, you

Nicolette and family members, I extend heartfelt condolences to you upon the loss of your beloved "Bebe". I met Nicolette in 1987 when we worked at NNS in the X52 Department and watched as she progressed in her job positions and became a very proficient secretary. I'm certain that she made her mom proud in every way.
