I too was fortunate to spend time with Betty, my dear friend Sharyne's mother, when I lived in Miami. I was always made to feel most welcome into her home and her extended family. Betty was a generous and upbeat person who set a shining example in that she lived her life with tremendous gusto. I shall always remember her fondly.

I had the privilege of working with Betty on my very first job at Metro Homicide in Miami. She helped me tremendously with the challenges and gruesome details of the job. As she would always say "Life is a bowl of cherry pits" , something I never forgot, along with her good humor and no-nonsense personality. She will always live on in my memory as a very special person and teacher. My condolences to all of the family. May she rest in peace.
