Betty Louise
(Partsch) Galaz

1925 - 2012

Betty L. Galaz (86) passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2012 surrounded by family. She was born in Johnstown, PA on November 28, 1925 and soon moved west to California, settling in Long Beach, her home for the rest of her life. Betty was a gentle, loving, caring and giving person who filled her life with a myriad of activities. Betty worked for North American Rockwell on the famed Apolllo Space project in Downey during the '60's. Later, she worked for Robinsons Department Store outfitting many of yesterday's leaders in their business suits. Betty also loved to give back and she volunteered at Long Beach Memorial for over 12 years. Betty was an avid golfer with a single digit handicap who loved to brag about her hole in one, she was a 200+ bowler, and terrific dancer. Betty loved the outdoors especially camping with her beloved Louie in their home away from home Travel Trailer. Betty also enjoyed gardening, especially caring for her roses, cooking for friends, and baking for family. More than anything else she loved traveling to Hawaii with Louie and her family. Hawaii was her paradise where her smile brightened the most. Betty was a great entertainer, always hosting parties, especially during the holidays, she was an avid rodeo fan, enjoyed playing the slot machines in Las Vegas, and there was hardly a moment in Betty's life when music wasn't playing. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert (Bob) Orcutt. She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Louie; two daughters, Kathleen Torres (Jerry), Cynthia Howard (Martin); daughter-in-law, Ruth Orcutt; grandchildren, Bob Orcutt, Christine (Orcutt) Spaulding, Richard Astin, Tiffany Torres, Caitlin Howard, Michael Howard, Liam Howard; nine great grandchildren and many loving friends. Rosary Vigil will be Monday, March 26, 6:00pm. Funeral Mass is Tuesday, March 27, 10:00am, both services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 6220 Willow St, Long Beach, CA. Burial immediately following at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier. Reception following at the Howard residence. Donations in her memory can be made to Children Today Online at ChildrenToday.Org or by mail to: Children Today, PO Box 16004, Long Beach, CA 90806. Please sign the guesttbook
