I turned on my Blackberry this morning and read the news about Betty. I started to cry immediately, even though I haven't seen Betty in who knows how many decades.So many adjectives come to mind - bright, warm, loving, courageous, a survivor, nothing phony about her. Her memory should be a blessing to her family and all who knew her.

Betty--All these decades after you left Portland, we kids still remember your laugh more than anything--it was the BEST! You rose to the occasion with your fabulous kids when Lew was taken so unexpectedly--I'll always remember your kids and us kids inner-tubing down Mt. Hood to the latest music craze at the time--the Beatles! I treasured getting to keep in touch with you on my trips to the bay area in the 20some years ago.
