Betty N. Hookway, 97, of Kingsport, TN, previously from Orlando, FL, passed away on September 16th, 2025.
Betty is survived by her daughters Norma Jean (Sam) Torres and Karen (Kevin) Gourley; granddaughters Tami Whitehurst and Samantha (George) Paradis; great-grandchildren Bayli Torres, Maddox Millington, Enzo Millington, Parker Paradis, Blaire Paradis, and Brighton Paradis, great-great-grandchildren Oliver and Olivia; and sister Joyce (Kenny) Miller. She is preceded in death by her husband Norman of 67 years, grandson Brian Torres, great-granddaughter Kelsi Torres, and brother Frank Minor Jr.
Betty was born in Flushing, Ohio, on November 24, 1927, to Frank, Sr and Ethel Minor.
She was a homemaker and volunteered by transcribing text books into braille, made birthday and wedding cakes, a substitute teacher, Gray Lady, Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and church secretary.
Betty loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She was very loving and had a generous heart. Betty loved getting together with friends and family to play cards. She was a woman of faith and loved her Lord Jesus. Betty was a member of Aloma Church, and had been since 1971.
Betty was a beloved wife to Norman, mother, and grandmother.
Betty will be laid to rest with her husband, Norman, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
