Not sure what to say?

January 23rd I read an obituary of a Betty Mason...I said to myself that can't be the Betty Mason that I know from Camas Library and quilting class. Betty came to 'Mystery & Mayhem' book discussion group at Camas Library. She always had strong opinions about the books that we read and discussed each month.
I was unable to go to book group last night; so today I called a friend to see if Betty was there last night. I was told that she wasn't.

In Oct. and Nov. Betty and I...

For a long time I have been putting this off, mainly because I knew it would be really hard for me to express my feelings about the loss of Betty. I have taken piano lessons from Betty since the first grade, currently I am in eigth. Every Tuesday was a day I looked forward to for many reasons. I was able to see what outfit Betty would have on, it always changed. But especially because I was able to share what I had done that week with her. Even if I had only practiced an hour, Betty always...

There's something missing and an empty feeling at our house on Saturday mornings now. Betty driving up in her red convertable mustang was a bright spot in our day. My daughter, Heather, took lessons from Betty for at at least 6 years-I can't remember exactly-I just know that Betty had become a member of our family. Heather shared her art projects with Betty and all of her formal dresses for school dances and really enjoyed dressing up for the yearly Halloween piano recitals. A few months ago,...

Betty was amember of my creative writing class, and one our favorite contributors. Her sense of humor and ability to laugh at herself will always be remembered by those of us fortunate enough to listen to her reading of her various experiences.

We welcomed Betty in to our home every Saturday morning at the awful hour of 6:45am! She loved to muse at recitals that she didn't recognize any of the Tiegs' without their pajamas! Our 5 children may not have always loved practicing - but they all loved Betty. She especially made lessons enjoyable for our two oldest teenage boys (that is a feat in itself), piano-teenagers-boys are not exactly words that go together. Of course I think they helped wake her up every Saturday - as you could...

Betty traveled to to our house every Saturday to start lessons for all of our 5 children at 7:30 am; a major early morning accomplishment in itself. Betty never failed to be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Ready for the task. With a little coffee she took on all comers.

It was easy, from our first meeting, to recognize Betty's musical talents and her thorough knowledge of music. She was also an expert music teacher. As parents we appreciate that Betty was stern and always fair....

I had been taking piano lessons from Betty for the last 8 years. A group of us ladies would get together and play at her home, it was inspiring. This always encouraged me to practice more.
I enjoyed our visits and seeing her latest quilting project. Betty also enjoyed reading and her outings with the "Red Hat Society".
Thank you for all of the memories Betty, I will miss you.

My sister and I both took piano lessons from Betty. She was always so joyful and enthusiastic about everything from a book she'd just read to a new piece we were playing. We would always talk a bit before the lesson, and be laughing & joking the entire time. It made my lessons more of a privalage than a task. Betty and my Grandmother would also always take pleasure in telling me about how life was when they were growing up, back in the "good ol' days". And accidnetly leaving her glasses or...

Betty was a bright spot in our lives. She taught our whole family the art of music through the piano. She will be sorely missed.
