Surrounded by her loving family, Betty passed away peacefully on Monday, July 30, 2018. She was born the second child of Floyd and Elsie Kirschner on March 6, 1925 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Betty grew up in Tulsa where she graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1943. Just prior to graduation, she started working for South Western Bell Telephone Company in Tulsa as a service representative. She was promoted to a coach and transferred to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1949 to train other service representatives for the telephone company.
While at Ponca City, she met her future husband, Harvey Rogers. They were married in Tulsa on June 1, 1951. Betty then transferred to MST and Telephone Company in Denver, Colorado and worked as a service representative for a year, before transferring again with that company to Ft. Collins, Colorado, while Harvey attended Colorado A & M College in the wildlife and biology field.
Harvey graduated A & M in 1955. That was the same year that they were blessed with their first child, Diane, born September 20, 1955 in Laramie, Wyoming.
Betty and Harvey, with Diane, traveled extensively for Harvey's job. Betty considered it a privilege to follow Harvey's career and content to be at home with their child. From Wyoming to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, then to Rangeley, Colorado, and on to Artesia, Colorado (now called Dinosaur, Colorado) moving continually.
The next move was to Durango, Colorado. While living there, their son, Daniel was born on July 8, 1958.
The next move was to Denver, Colorado and then on to Decatur, Alabama. Then on to Boise, Idaho.
Then finally a transfer back to Tulsa, Oklahoma (Betty's home town). They lived there for 13 years and raised Diane and Dan.
Then a final transfer to Austin, Texas.
Harvey retired in 1982 and they moved back to the Tulsa area to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 1983.
Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing trips, planting flowers, putting picture albums together, and learned all about computers and even helped Harvey put together a book of his Memoirs.
Betty was preceded in death by both parents and both siblings, Larry and Bob Kirschner. Also her husband Harvey died in 2008.
Betty had a massive stroke shortly after Harvey's death which left her with severe medical issues. She moved in with Dan and Daisy Rogers in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and lived with them and their family until her death.
She is survived by her children, Diane Perkins of Yukon, Oklahoma and Dan and Daisy Rogers of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Her grandchildren include Dawn and Barry Goepfert of Melbourne, Florida; Cassie and Andrew Duffle of Portland, Oregon; Brandi and Jim Avery of Coffeyville, Kansas; and Bryan and Benjamin Rogers of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Her great-grandchildren include Guy, Emily, Tyson, and Jacob Goepfert of Melbourne, Florida; Zoe Duffle of Portland, Oregon; and Ethan Avery of Coffeyville, Kansas.
Services will be Friday, August 3rd at 10:00 A.M. at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel. Burial will be in Broken Arrow Veteran's Field and Floral Haven Cemetery beside her beloved husband Harvey.

Not sure what to say?

Betty was the closest person I had as a sister. We were first cousins and we both had two brothers and no sisters. She was six years my senior and I was the lucky little girl who received her "hand me down" clothes and dolls. Our families always enjoyed the holidays which were always all day affairs. Going to Tulsa was a big deal also. Betty was fun loving, always a good sport and patient entertaining her younger cousins. Will always treasure those memories. Am sending prayers of...
