As a neighbor on Barkwood Drive, I had the pleasure of seeing Betty regularly. I always enjoyed talking with her outside the house, but I loved seeing her design techniques inside. Her use of color was fabulous.

Betty was a friend and sorority sister-Delta Sigma Theta. Betty and I had great fun co-chairing one of the last Ebony Fashion Shows at Indian Spring Country Club for our beloved Alpha Wives Club of Montgomery County, MD. I miss her.

It is with great sadness that I note the passing of our good friend and union sister Betty Smith. Her memory is an inspiration to all of us who work for justice and solidarity. Betty was always there when MCEA needed representatives and volunteers to hand out Apple ballots! I remember how proud she was when her daughter was appointed a Maryland judge. It was a great joy in her life. I always admired how she remained slender and beautiful despite her advancing years. Rest in peace, Sister Betty.
