Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Teeter, Betty Lou (nee Jones), 89, baptized into the hope of Christ's resurrection, Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

Daughter of the late John & Edna Jones; beloved wife of the late Charles “Bud” Teeter; preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Rakowski. Dear mother of Lynn (Pete) Johnston; beloved grandmother of Sean (Amanda) Johnston and Ryan Johnston (Claire Johnson); dear great grandmother of Paige Johnston. Loving sister of the late Elaine (Richard) O’Connell and the late Ethel (Kenneth) Mueller. Dear aunt to her nieces & nephew and other extended family.

Dearest friend to Judith, Ann, Clara and many other cherished friends from her villa complex. Thanks to her home caregiver & friend, Carol, who helped her during her last year at her villa. Many special thanks and gratitude to her care team, staff & new friends at Town & Country Senior Living. They treated her with such love & compassion in her final days.  Also, sincere thanks to the care team from Pathways Hospice.

Betty grew up in South St Louis. She graduated from Southwest High School and worked as an administrative assistant in the display department at Stix Baer & Fuller. She also worked at Bank Building, KMOX Radio, and Monsanto in Labor Relations and Security. She married Gene & they had one daughter, Lynn. Gene passed away after 4 years of marriage from Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She later married Bud & they had 43 wonderful years of marriage.

Betty loved her family, especially her beloved grandsons, Sean & Ryan, who she enjoyed watching grow up into wonderful young men. She & Bud loved having them over for sleepovers, playing games, and many fun-filled adventures. She also loved getting to meet and hold her new great granddaughter, Paige. She had so much fun with her friends going to garage sales searching for bargains, taking tole painting classes, playing bunko, crafts, buying & making holiday decorations, and shopping (especially for anything that was the color blue). Much of her beautiful artwork was displayed on her walls. She adored her Yorkshire Terrier, Mattie, who was her companion for 12 years. She enjoyed road trips with her late husband, Bud, and they often returned to one of their favorite places, Myrtle Beach.

Services: The family will receive friends at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Wednesday, June 26th from 9-10 a.m., with procession leaving immediately following to Ascension Catholic Church, 2330 Santa Maria Drive, Chesterfield, for 10:30 a.m. Mass.
