Beulah Brown Obituary

Brown, Beulah Elaine,

87, formerly of Fairdale, Kentucky and Brandenburg, Kentucky passed into eternal peace and rest surrounded by overwhelming love and spirit on March 20, 2017 at Bell Oaks Place in Newburgh, Indiana.

She was born to Jesse John Bowles, Sr. and Aline Filitis Peake and grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. She married Manuel Lee Brown, Sr. at age 15 and as a teen, she worked serving in retail and as a waitress. She later gave birth to five children and had always described the time raising her children as the happiest time of her life. She later returned to her studies and obtained her GED and both a LPN and a RN degree from Jefferson Community College. Upon graduation, she worked serving as a nurse at Norton Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky and later at the medical office of Dr. Manuel Brown, Jr. until she retired at age 70. She continued to serve with her nurturing nature until her final earthly moments. She had a very strong faith in God and was always willing to share that in her special way. She was a remarkable prayer warrior.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Manuel Lee Brown, Sr.; her parents; brother, Jessie John Bowles, Jr.; sister, Betty Jo Crabb; and her beloved daughter Deborah Jo Durall.

She is survived by four children: Dr. Manuel Lee Brown, Jr. (Debbie) of Louisville, Kentucky; Elaine Philitus Carter (Cecil, Jr.) of Louisville, Kentucky; Robert Larry Brown (Annette) of Brandenburg, Kentucky; Dr. Melinda Jackson (Wayne, Jr.) of Evansville, Indiana; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A private family viewing will be held at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home at 3601 Taylor Blvd. in Louisville, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Garden West in Louisville, Kentucky. A celebration of life will be held at Dr. Melinda Jackson's office at 4144 Wyntree Drive in Newburgh, Indiana on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

The family wishes to express a special gratitude to the loving servants of Heart to Heart Hospice, her caregivers and staff at Bell Oaks Place, the church families of Bluegrass United Methodist Church in Evansville and Epworth United Methodist Church in Louisville and all those who reached out to offer support in any way. The family has requested that in Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice in Evansville, Indiana, Bluegrass United Methodist Church in Evansville, Indiana, or Epworth United Methodist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.
