You don't know me but I am Bevan's cousin, Karen Grooms (Winkler). I am so sorry to hear he is gone at such a young age. My father, Orval, died at 42 and was partners with Bevan's mom and dad. There was issues with that business and I was only 18 but know what loss is and I pray for you. I was so young when Bevan's older brother died at such a early age and so tragic. I don'thave much family left as my mother is very ill so saddens me to hear this news ...my precious Aunt Lila always so dear just sent me a card. My heart goes out to his children and wife. Karen Grooms (Winkler) [email protected] if you need to talk...

Lydia,
I met you briefly at my wedding last August. My husband Nathan worked with Bevan at ULA. Nathan had nothing but good things to say about Bevan, both as an individual and as an engineer. Our hearts are heavy from this sad loss. Please know that we are praying for you and your children at this sad time.

Lydia,
I worked for Bevan at ULA and my wife, Mandy, and I sat with you and Bevan at Nathan's wedding reception. He was a great boss and a great friend. Pastor Jason was right when he said that Bevan made everyone feel like his best friend. We were blessed to have known him. Our prayers are with you, William and Grace. I can't wait to see the next Delta IV launch dedicated to him. Bevan truly was a "steely-eyed missile man".

I met Bevan in 2004 when he transferred to Decatur AL with the Delta Program. I had just relocated from Colorado a few weeks earlier. He would pass by my cubical and stop to visit. Bevan was one of the nicest persons you could ever met. He was so caring and loved his family so much. We began a friendship of talking about our families. He shared his wonderful talent of his art and told me all about his son, daughter and lovely wife. I missed my grandchildren back in Colorado so I would share all my pictures of them with Bevan. When I learned I would get to go back home to Colorado with ULA I shared with Bevan the love of Colorado and encouraged him to try to come to Colorado. I was so happy when he did transfer to Denver. When I heard of his illness I could not believe it. I am so very sad of the loss of such a wonderful person. Lydia, I did not meet you until a few weeks ago, but I knew all about you, William, and Grace through the wonderful times Bevan shared with me. My heart goes out to you all. I am so sad that he left us so early. His spirit will live on and I will think of him always. He has taught me that TODAY MATTERS. Rest in peace Bevan. We love and will miss you always.

Bevan was such a special man, so special in fact that God needed him home! His joy and love is filling the heavens as he rests in the hand of our Lord. "Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders." Continue to walk in his love, for he will remain in your heart forever.

Bevan will be missed by everyone. He leaves with us his compassion, his heart, his thoughtfulness of others before himself . . . a man whom has touched us all. He is with the Lord now, and we are all so blessed to have known him for the time he was on this earth. Thank you Lord, for allowing us all to be touched by this great man.

Lydia, William, and Grace,
I met Bevan shortly before he was diagnosed this last time, and the peace that he had was unmistakeable, knowing in whose hands he really lied, even though he had an undeniable desire to spend more time on earth with his family. While we can be absolutely sure that, through Bevan's faith in Jesus Christ, he is walking those streets of gold, I know that this can still be a difficult time. All of us at the church are here for you - in prayer, in deed, as an ear, or however else you need us - as you know we always had been before.

As manager of a newly formed Strength group in Decatur, Bevan made such a positive impact. I feel very fortunate to have worked for him during that time. He served as an example of excellence, honesty, and integrity in all facets of life. I will always remember how he went out of his way to help facilitate personal and career development, and will be forever grateful. My thoughts and prayers are with his family; may his positive influence and fond memories serve to provide comfort to all who knew him.

I am heartbroken to know that cousin Bevan is gone. I think back on all of the memories we had as children and the happy, playful and inquisitive boy that he was, and when all the cousins got together...how much laughter, noise, fun and good times we had. I will forever remember him in my heart and that little boy with the beautiful sparkling blue eyes. I feel comforted in knowing that he is at peace and no longer in pain, and I send my love to Lydia, William, Grace, Aunt Charlene and Uncle Freddie, Perry, Tracy and Dawn. Love...Cousin Beverly

IN LOVING MEMORY OF MY SON
Bevan was known for his patience and perfection
He was a sweet and gentle soul.
A trusting and kindly man
Not so materialistically absorbed.
A man of honesty, integrity, and truth
He would listen to your point of view
An open and eager mind to learn
Humility possessed by few.
So very proud of Lydia, William, and Grace
His precious family
No boasting but you obviously see
His devotion and sincerity
To his friends and family
A heart filled with love and compassion
No malice in his face
He cared about the world and humanity
And definitely walks in God's grace.
Love, Mom
Lydia, William, and Grace,
Remember that if you need us, we're only a phone call away. May time and love bring you peace.

I met Bevan when he moved to Huntsville to work on Delta IV at the Decatur factory. He and I along with another team member commuted to work together for a short while. Too short for me. I worked with him day to day for a few years. He was a quiet, intelligent, and at the right times, a very funny guy. I value my time with Bevan. He was also very committed to understanding and doing the Lord's will. He had strength and confidence, yet was meek and humble. He had genuine love for others. It was an honor to have known him, he was very special. You will be missed my friend, but we will be together one day and oh how I look towards it all the more knowing we will see each other again.

Lydia, William and Grace,
My family and I are so very sorry that your husband, your father, has departed to be face to face with our Lord at such a young age. We may not know why, but we know that God is perfect, His timing is perfect, and it was time to bring Bevan home.
I had the pleasure of knowing Bevan for years, starting back in Huntington Beach. He has been a great friend to me, both as an engineer and a rival Bruin, and especially as an ambassador for Christ. We do know this, that Bevan will receive rewards from our Lord beyond all we could ever hope or dream, and hear those words "Well done though good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in a few things, I will put you in charge of many."
I look forward to seeing him again. You father may be in heaven, but our Father who is still with you will take care of you all the days of your life.

Aunt Lydia, William, and Gracie,
I'm sorry for your loss. I loved Uncle Bevan. He encouraged me in the arts and inspired me. I remember he drew a picture of my dad in one sitting that blew me away. It was perfect. I still have the picture he drew for me. It was the best art lesson I ever had. I love you guys. God Bless.
Rest in Peace Uncle Bevan.

Bevan was not only my manager, but a great role model at United Launch Alliance. He inspired me so much that I recently chose to attend UCLA for my Masters degree, knowing Bevan was a proud Bruin and that he would have been proud of me. I will think of him every step of the way during my journey at UCLA, remembering him as that role model he always was the whole time I've known him. He truly had a good heart with good intentions. It was a pleasure working with him in the short time I knew him. Lydia, Krystal & I just wanted to let you know our thoughts and prayers are with you, the kids, and the rest of your families right now. Please take comfort in knowing he's with the Lord now, free from pain.

Bevan was the supportive and encouraging Strength Manager in Decatur who helped me when I worked the Delta II in Huntington Beach. We met in person when Bevan became Manager of Composites Strength and our friend Peter Houk hired into his group. On our first meeting, well before we worked together, I was convinced of his faith and witness. A few conversations and Bevan’s love for his family was very obvious as well. Bevan loved the Lord, his family and his fellow man and we are all better for knowing him.
