We were children, really, when we met. She was 21, a waitress at a folk coffee house in Fresno, and I was a 19 year old student.
We fell in love and ran off to Mexico to be married.
She was the most beautiful, and remains the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. We were very poor in those days, first living in a carriage house in Fresno, a 12 foot trailer at the beach outside of Carmel, an apt in San Jose where Ski was born, a cottage in historic Almaden, and finally, a farm house...
