Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Beverly Ann Hampton passed away Wednesday August 7th, 2024. She was the youngest daughter of Charles I & Clara Hertenstein. Beverly grew up in Boonville & St. Louis, MO where she spoke often of all the wonderful times growing up with her brother, Charlie and her sister Joan, especially in Boonville.  Faith, family love, loyalty, compassion, creativity, and craftiness were attributes instilled in Beverly at a young age.

Beverly graduated from Fontbonne University with a Bachelor’s degree in teaching. She taught History at Incarnate Word Academy. She became a stay-at-home mother for many years, before working at the family pharmacy, Hampton North County Pharmacy. Beverly found her calling as a Director for Children’s World Learning Center which became Kinder Care for slightly over 20 years. While there, many of her employees became family to her & vice versa. She took time to listen, help, encourage &/or even mentor some of her fellow employees. She helped encourage many including the children attending the pre-school to find their own path in life.

Upon graduation she met the love of her life, John Joseph Hampton Sr on a blind date. It was love at first sight as John came home and told his parents he met his future wife. Married at St. Ann Church in 1965, Beverly & John were active within their parish, St. Christopher’s, with their seven children. John being a CYC soccer coach and Beverly active as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.

Beverly & John went on to raise seven wonderful children, Angelique, Michelle, John Jr., Scott, Michael, Nicholas & Melissa. Family and traditions meant everything to Beverly. She was overjoyed with the expansion of the family over the years. She welcomed her son & daughter-n-laws as if they were their own; Christopher Emert, Scot Emert, Christine (Valenti), Sarah (April), Melissa (Hatridge), Kristine (Ederle) & Scott Dyn. The family didn’t stop there, but continued to grow with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their spouses. Kellsie (Tyler), Riley & Henry Fink ∞ Lauryn (Pearce) & Romie Reding ∞ Nicolle Emert ∞ Ashley (Desmond), Gabe, Gavin, Gannon & Gracie McNeil ∞ Amanda (Adam), Ryan Nichols, Jacob Nichols & Mikayla Brooks ∞ Alisha (Jessica Biondo) Emert ∞ Alexis (Konner) Fitzgerald ∞ Brandon Emert ∞ Jacob (Alexis) Isla, August Hampton ∞ Mitchell (Amanda Bayer) Hampton ∞ Zachary Hampton ∞ Katelyn & Megan Hampton ∞ Brenna, Michael Murphy, Hannah & Joseph Hampton ∞ Heidi, Molly, Marci & Daphne Hampton∞ Brady, Bryce, Mackenzie & Chloe Dyn. We know she will be the first there wearing her pearls to see her next two great-grand-children which will be born in December 2024.
Beverly had a special bond with each and every member of the family. Whether it was watching a Hallmark movie, a Cardinal game, fighting over the John Deere tractor to do yardwork, virtual movie night, attending a soccer game or dance recital, buying blankets for Christmas gifts, making charitable blankets and crafts, holiday chocolates, lasagnas, pumpkin pies, turkey, roast beef, or cookies. It was never anything simple but always a grand festivity. Every person who came to her house was well fed and left with a drink & a snack.

Beverly will be greatly missed. She will be leaving a huge void, but we will fill it with memories. Please join us in celebrating a life well lived.

Not sure what to say?

To The Hampton Family,

I just heard of Bev's passing. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I remember the day the Hampton's moved in across the street on Dunloe-we weren't sure who they all were , but it sure didn't take long to get to know them and see what a loving wonderful family they all were. And they became such great neighbors!

Over the past years I would run into Bev quite often at Dierbergs , we would laugh at how...

Sorry for your loss ,she sounded like an awesome parent.

Beverly, I miss you already and wish we all could go back in time to relive our lives, knowing what we do now! I remember your sense of humor, usually having something to do with John, and your loving patience with Ed, whom you always welcomed to your home and family. I think that’s where Ed was happiest. You and John raised and nurtured 7 great little kids who grew into loving, thoughtful, responsible, compassionate, and caring individuals and are passing on those same qualities to all...

I am so sorry for your loss. Miss Bev was a wonderful boss and mentor.

We are so sorry for your loss John.

Bev was a very special person in many ways. There will be an empty space that can't be filled, but you new guardian angel will try. So very sorry and you're in our prayers.

Bev mad a deep impact on my life for many years. I became the educator I am today because of her and her tough love and devotion to her employees that she treated like family. She will be deeply missed but the memories will live on forever!!!

I am your mom and dad cousin Dennis Poncet we thought a lot of your parents. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Your parents are together again and they will be loving those great grand babies before they come to you. We are sorry for your loss and hope you can find some peace in knowing they are together again. Sending love and prayers, Dennis and Paula
