Beverly Jeanne BainJuly 1, 1936 - Feb. 14, 2023 Beverly J. Bain was born July 1, 1936, to Earle and Elizabeth Bain. She passed away on Valentine's Day which happened to be a day where it had snowed. As a life-long educator I'm sure Bev would get a kick out of it being a "snow day." Bev grew up in...

Not sure what to say?

Ms.Bain was my High School counselor from 1990 ta 1994 and she was always the sweetest to me I had hstd time getting good grades but she got me on the honer roll 3.5 one year I still can't believe it she believed in me by 1994 I was short 5 credits ta graduate with my class but she took it upon herself when the school year over a few days later called me ta meet with the new principal of 1994 plus the long time principal Dick Baker plus Ms Bain that meeting just for me ta let me know After...

I was a member of the High Q team at Gladstone HS my junior year. Ms. Bain was our fearless leader and we won against Taft, Crescent Valley, Hudson Bay, Madison and lost the final to Milwaukie. Ms. Bain made me a TV star and she was very supportive. I learned how to be a good public speaker and was successful as a college debater at PLU. I am very grateful for her influence on my life as a public person (speaker in the schools for HIV alliance 1988 to 2024).

In 1952-52 I met Bev when I joined the youth group and junior choir of a downtown Portland church. We were high school sophomores, Bev at Cleveland High and I at Beaverton High. Through all these years, and even with my many moves around the country, I have carried special memories of our adolescent friendship. Lost in the swamp of teenage bewilderment, Bev and I managed to find fun and laughter in the heart of those groups. Odd what we remember, isn't it? I think often of Bev's small,...

Miss Bain also taught a psychology class in 1983-1984. She was a counselor at Gladstone for the years I was there (1981-84), I may have not understood some of her advice until after The psych class ( and running into her years later), was glad to have been able to give her a hug; after all, it had been about 20 years......she was disciplined, not a disciplinarian. I, personally, thank her for that.

We´ve lost a great treasure. I worked with (& learned much from) Bev at Gladstone HS from `86 o 2000. I was the Attend. Sec´ty when she was Counselor. Integrity and concern, care & fairness for the students were her trademarks. We also became friends; favorite memories include trips to San Francisco with her, Vicki & Debby. Also, I´d hide the same large fake rat in her office every Halloween ..... which always made her jump! She´d laugh & say "You got me AGAIN!" Bev´s...

Everyone loved Miss Bain. She was a big part of what was right in education if you grew up in Gladstone. She took a keen interest in us as students. I was fortunate to see her at different Gladstone events over the years. She was truly loved and will be missed greatly!

I was lucky enough to be one  of  Bev's friends.  Her kindness and strength of character flew under the radar to most. If you were lucky enough to engage with her regularly, you couldn't help but notice her incredible strength,  and integrity. She was all about helping others. She never wanted any recognition. She just wanted to be helpful, and to do the right thing. She was noble,  proud, and increadably kind. She might not like that I said so much, but I  couldn't help it - she left her...
