Beverly was a beacon of hope and justice in a world that seems to have lost its way. He was my next door neighbor for more than 20 years and we shared many stories and laughs. I will miss him very much.

Beverly was a brilliant man, a person of deep faith, an old-school, old-world patron of culture and literature, an unreconstructed liberal, a true character and fixture in Newton Center, a faithful friend. I had the privilege to be of help to him a time or two, and my children Esther, Gregory, and Tommy too. But nothing like Steve and Mary Jane Ott, or Frank Olney. Wow. I can't remember all these accomplishments of Beverly when I worshiped alongside him in Newton Centre. MLK jr! and so many people in so many states he touched. I'm glad I was one of them.
