Groton - Beverly G. Letz, 84, of 336 Briar Hill Road, Groton, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 9, 2006, at her residence.
She was born in North Stonington on Oct. 1, 1921, the daughter of C. Ernest and Evelyn (Main) Gray.
Beverly was married to George P. Letz on March 23, 1946, in North Stonington.
Beverly graduated from Wheeler High School and attended Connecticut College. She worked at Electric Boat Company during World War II.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Lawrence & Memorial Hospital where she volunteered many hours. She was also a member of the LAMBS, Child and Family Agency, the North Stonington Historical Society, and the Denison Society. She was a charter member of the Rake and Trowel Garden Club, now the Trillium Garden Club. Beverly was also a devoted New York Yankee fan, loved traveling, nature, antiques, and the antics of her granddog, Zander.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Christopher G. and his wife, Linda Letz, of Groton and Peter G. Letz of North Stonington.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Douglas, Royce, and Ward Gray.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at Wheeler Cemetery, North Stonington. A reception will follow at Gray's yellow house, Antiques and Accomodations, 32 Main St., North Stonington. There are no visiting hours.
