QUEENSBURY --- Beverly (Johnson) Ranney, 82, of Luzerne Rd., passed away, Saturday, August 9, 2025, at home.


She was born March 6, 1943 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Barbara Ezekiel Hawthorne.


Beverly was a graduate of Westfield High School and Bay Path Jr. College. She married George Ranney in December, 2000. 


Beverly enjoyed spending time with the Ladies group at West Glens Falls Community Chapel, working in her gardens, reading, knitting and sewing.


She worked aerospace services in Granby, Conn. Until 1969, and retired from Great Meadow Correctional Facility in 2005 after 25 years of dedicated service.


Besides her parents, Beverly was predeceased by her sister, Virginia McLauchlin of Jefferson City, Mo., and a special step-mother, Mabel Hawthorne of Springfield, Mass. 


Beverly is survived by her loving husband, George Ranney of Queensbury; two daughters, Tambra Smith and her husband, Christopher, of Queensbury, and Tara Vestal and her husband, Mathew, of West Fort Ann; two sons, Todd Johnson and wife, Stephanie, of South Glens Falls, and Tim Johnson of Glens Falls; five grandchildren, Joseph Johnson of Gansevoort, T.J. Johnson of Boston, Mass., Matthew and Brandon Vestal, both of Ft. Ann, and Amber (Johnson) Wright of Norfolk, Va.; brother, Douglas Hawthorne of Agawam Mass.; step-sister Doreen Shaw and her husband, John, of Perry, Ga.; eight special sisters-in-law, Linda Stiles of Hudson Falls, Mary Lou Ranney also of Hudson Falls, Jennifer McAnaly of Hudson Falls, Donna McFadden, Rebecca Coats of Ft. Ann, Sarah Ranney of Queensbury, and Judith Knowles of Granville; a very special Aunt Eleanor Richards of Agawam, Mass.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her special Yorkie, Sadie.


Calling hours will take place from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY. 


A memorial service will immediately.  Burial will follow the memorial at Pine View Cemetery.
