Restauranteur, cookbook author, TV personality, and our mom, Biba Caggiano, passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 29, 2019, with her family by her side. Born in Bologna, Italy on October 18, 1936, she was the middle child of Antonietta and Leopoldo Bertacchini. Her older brother...

Not sure what to say?

My husband and I enjoyed all six of her cooking lessons, an honor and a privilege. Her chef and pasta chef made the dishes we prepared. We tasted all three dishes they prepared. What a taste of Italy. Biba spoke to every person at every table each evening. She was tiny and mighty. I went to East Sacramento cemetery and asked where her grave was. It isn't there. The last meal I ate before I moved from Sacramento was there. I have a picture of the two of us framed on my bookshelf. From...

My wife Barbara and I loved your mom´s show and we have several of her books. Numerous of her recipes are on our regular rotation. I was just trying to figure out what to make for dinner this week, and came across another cool recipe we hadn´t yet tried. That made me wonder where she was. I was saddened to see she had passed, but loved your obituary. Know that we love her books and her legacy has passed to our children as well- they are grown now and making many of her dishes too!

I too just learned of Biba´s passing and want to add my appreciation. In 2011, I wrote to Biba to tell her how much I treasured her cookbook "Northern Italian Cooking" because it allowed me to re-create many of the dishes my two northern Italian Nonnas had always made (but without written recipes). Biba graciously wrote back to me and I still have her handwritten note tucked into my cookbook. Rest in peace and thank you.

Saddened to only recently learn of Biba's passing. I found her early in my life, when she taught Italian cooking on TLC. She brought so much joy when I needed it most. She showed us her passion and love of Italy through her cooking. Biba will always be a star. Deepest condolences to her family. Never forgotten and dearly loved.

In 1995, I was a stay-at-home mom to my baby son. Everyone in my family and in my neighborhood worked full-time, so even though I adored being a full-time mom, I found it could sometimes be lonely and isolating when the baby slept during the day. I soon began watching Biba's cooking show every weekday on the TLC channel, and it soon became a favorite time of day. I had grown up in a large Italian family in New York and moved to California as a young teen. Total culture shock! There were no...

Lamento saber que ha fallecido, tengo semanas buscándola en internet, amé sus programas de televisión su honestidad, sencillez y amor por la cocina, permanece en nuestra memoria, muchas gracias Biba.

I was sorry to hear biba passed. What an amazing lady and cook. I have several of her cookbooks. I loved watching her on television. Rest in peace sweet lady.

Biba's Trattoria Cooking has been a part of my life since it came out in 1992. It would not be a stretch to say that, over the years, it has been my most used cookbook and my most beloved. Her recipes showed a not very good cook how to make dinner a small triumph. I was grateful 30 years ago, and I remain so now. Gary Krysler

Four years since your mom passed, I´m just finding out. My sincere condolences to Biba´s family and friends. Oh, how I would´ve love a meal prepared by Biba. Her cookbook and traditional pasta recipe have been the heart of my 25-year marriage to my wife. Biba will always be the original Italian TV chef for me and her memory will carry on in our cooking. Condolences, Tim
