Bill "Wild Bill" Getris

The Uno de Mayo fishing trips with you, Bill, will always live in my memory.

I first met Bill while I was secretary to Babe Huber at Salinas High School. Bill was so much fun and always made me smile. The students loved him. I have run into him a few times over the recent years and always got a hug from the big guy. My sincere thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family.
My children, Scott, Sandy and Steve also thought "Wild Bill" was a pretty nice guy.

Mr. Getris, on behalf of the many Salinas High School students who have known you through the years, we will definitely miss you. It is very fitting that you will be honored Friday night at the Salinas High girls basketball game. You were my very first teacher at Salinas High right after I graduated from Spreckels School. Thank you for the "A" in Pre Algebra! I was so intimidated by you then! You were such an imposing presence on campus. As I got to know you better when I started coaching...

Some of my most treasured memories of my time at Salinas High School are the times that I spent with Bill. He was a great guy who will be missed by all his many, many friends.
