Bill Hayes was a singer who scored a number one hit in 1955 with "The Ballad of Davy Crockett," then went on to play recurring character Doug Williams on the TV soap "Days of Our Lives" for over 50 years.

Dougvcoming to Days marrying Addie then Julie. I actually met Susan and Bill when Bill headlined the PS Follies one of the most exciting days of my life. I was in labor in 1968 with my first born when Julie was in labor with David. I always felt a kinship with her and my daughters all grew up knowing the DOL stories so much so when my daughters was in Greece I told her to look for Bo and Hope. Our deepest condolences to family, remembering watching the the loving couple on days, started watching days with my mom in 73. I loved that they were always traveling, and meeting both of you at days of days. I also got my daughter watching days, it's been 45 years.He will be very much missed, my heart is broken for Susan and family, you have a lot of fans

I have a very early memory of Mr Hayes when he sang " The Ballad of Davy Crockett" which sold over 3 million recordings during which time my fifth grade class sang this ...many decades later I watched " Days of Our Lives " which I watched for well over fifty years and put that together ... I am very sad as he was a great favorite of mine
