Bill Newburn

Bill Newburn, 85, Kokomo, passed away at 9:53PM Saturday, July 10, 2010 at North Woods Village. He was born April 25, 1925 in Kokomo to William and Hattie (Rodman) Newburn. On June 11, 1944, in Kokomo, he married Wilma Tomlinson who survives. Bill Served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945 and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1152. He retired from the construction industry in 1980 after 40 years as a contractor. Bill played lead guitar in several bands in Kokomo and in Florida. Survivors include wife Wilma Newburn; daughter Kathy Turner and husband David; daughter Barbara Hansen and husband Dale; son Bill Newburn Jr. and wife Gina; and daughter Sherri Ball and husband Reverend James R. Also14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two half brothers Arthur and Harland Loveland. A graveside service will be at 11:30 AM Wednesday July 14, 2010 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Kokomo, with Reverend Matthew D. Ball and Reverend James R. Ball officiating with burial to follow. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and Kokomo V.F.W. Military rights team. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday July 13, 2010 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street.
