To the Evans/Moore family:
I have been employed at Winnwood Retirement home for six months. During that time I have growth particularly close to Ms. Evans, I think that most of the residents and staff will express that it is not hard to establish a bond with Ms. Evans. I say this not only because she is a very outgoing, caring, and compassionate woman, but also because she is a very outspoken, charming, and strong woman. Ms. Evans was a dominant force at Winnwood-always standing firm for what she believed in, all the while demanding her respect. She opened doors for herself and other residents, ensuring that the elder voice was not only heard but listened to.
Ms. Evans' family was her greatest pleasure. She often boasted with regard to her "two sons" and all of their accomplishments. Her granddaughter was her light and just a simple glance at her picture left her with much gratitude.
Not only was her immediate family important to her, but her Winnwood family was important as well. She would spend many an afternoon in the dining room chating with Ms. Hodges, Ms. Findley, and Ms. Carter. Ms. Evans would also find time to offer a chair to the Resident Assistants in order to catch up on any new news.
With the news of Ms. Evans passing, the home was overcome with disbelief and is shadowed with a desolate atmosphere. However, we are all fortunate to have had the opportunity to be blessed with Billie's presence and she will forever remain in all of our hearts. So in closing......thank you to the Evans/Moore family for providing us with the privilege of getting to know and love your mother. May Ms. Evans rest in peace.
With love,
Dana Cummings
