Mrs. James was my 11th grade English teacher at Tuscaloosa High School in 1966-67. Many decades later we reacquainted, I as an Episcopal priest and she as a parishioner at St. Luke´s. I am grateful that in these last few years I could express my gratitude for her in my life. Mrs. James, may your rest be this day in the Paradise of God. Amen. Alleluia Alleluia

I was one od Billie James students at Mountain Brook High back in 1970. I was not happy then and her creative writing class gave me an outlet and relief. I know she went on to help many troubled teens and others. She was a treasure. Sending love and light to all those she has left behind.

What a moving obituary for the spectacular Ms. James. Ms. James was my creative writing teacher at MBHS and my favorite teacher in high school. As someone involved in education for my professional life, I can tell you that the big word today is "engaging". Well, Ms. James was engaging with a capital E.
