Bill was born July 28, 1931, the son of Stewart and Clara (Dost) Campbell, near Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from Newburg High School in 1948. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. It was through luck, and mutual friends, that Bill met the love of his life, Irene Main. On August 25, 1951, they were married at Montezuma United Methodist Church. Bill worked for Chrysler Garage, Standard Station and Poweshiek County Implement, as a mechanic. In 1961, he opened Campbell Implement and retired in 2001. Bill enjoyed being a mechanic and had devoted customers that would come several miles, just to be serviced. He could fix anything. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife, Irene, of Grinnell; son, Bruce Campbell of Grinnell; grandchildren, Rachel (Marty) Breeden and Reanna Campbell, all of Grinnell; two great grandchildren, Haley and Ty Breeden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gene Campbell.

Not sure what to say?

Irene, BRUCE, Reanna, sorry for your loss. Prayers and thoughts go out to you today and days ahead. Treasure memories

Irene and family, in that great beyond we can be sure that our loved ones are finally catching up on the conversations that they had left hanging. My dad, Harvey Mikel is probably ‘chewing the fat’ with Clyde and Billy right now! May happy memories bring you peace in your heart. -Elaine Mikel Jolayemi

Bill and Irene were two of our “original” neighbors. Deepest sympathies on your loss

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always, Billy. My heart goes out to Irene, Bruce, and all of their family.

So sad to hear of Bills passing he was always willing and able to help us out when we had problems with Betsy at the fire department his knowledge was fantastic and we learned a lot watching him. He said if it work’s don’t mess with it . We thank him for the knowledge and we will not forget it David
