Seale Funeral Service - Denham Springs Obituary

Billy C. Burge completed his life's journey on February 24th, 2017 at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas with Carol, his beloved wife of 37 years, by his side. Billy was a life-long resident of Livingston Parish and resided in Denham Springs, Louisiana. After graduating from Doyle High School in 1972, Billy went on to earn his teaching degree at Southeastern Louisiana University. Coach was loyal to Livingston Parish by teaching at Walker and Live Oak schools his entire career. He dedicated 36 years of his life to his students, either in the classroom, on the football field, or in the passenger's seat of a driver's education car. Billy valued family above all else, but he also treasured the relationships he formed with his friends, fellow educators, and coaches. Coach was an avid LSU fan and he enjoyed adding to his vast sports' memorabilia collection, but the greatest joy in his life came at the birth of his first grandchild, Grayson. Surviving Billy, is his wife, Carol Wagner Burge, his son, Brett Burge and wife Rachel with grandson, Grayson Allen Burge; daughter, Brooke Burge McChristian and husband Brady. Survivors also include a sister, Betty Burge Dunlap, sisters-in-law Cheryl Wagner Neal and Tammie Wagner DeMarchis, brothers-in-law Randall Neal and Danny DeMarchis, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great great-nieces and nephews. Not sure what to say?

I'll always remember you, my friend. Love u, Carol.

Carol and family, thoughts and prayers for your family at this difficult time. Billy always made me smile whenever I ran into him around town. What wonderful memories of fun times you and the family had with him!

Billy, my friend and mentor at Walker Jr High, I have thought of your advise and humor often throughout the years. And when I saw you anywhere, it was like a breathe of fresh air. You, my friend, will be sorely missed. Carol, my prayers are with u and your family. Love to you all.

I really enjoyed the time that Billy and I spent together at Pine Ridge School in Walker. Coach was a fine man who often talked fondly of his family. I will truly miss him.

Coach I hope you can forgive me for not coming to pay my respects. I couldn't bring myself to do it. My fondest memories are in Jr high 77- 79. More recently I'll miss you saying "whatcha got" when newly purchased lsu items arrived. Rip coach...much love God Bless
