Rockett Funeral Home - Ringgold Obituary

Daniel 12:3 “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.”

William Lee Davis Sr., also known as Billy Lee Davis, Brother Billy, Uncle Billy, Dad, & Papa left a legacy, and set an example for us all to try and follow. He was dedicated to his family and was always there when we needed him. He graduated from Hall Summit High School where he later became a schoolteacher, principal, basketball coach, and a devoted friend to many throughout the years. He was a Pastor, a Chaplin at Christus Coushatta Hospital, a deacon, a mentor to many, went on many mission trips through the years, and above all he was a devoted disciple for Jesus.

Papa touched many lives. His devotion and love for Christ was always evident in all he did, everywhere he went, and to everyone he talked to. No one ever doubted his love or worship of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He brought many people to Christ by not only telling them about the love of Jesus but also by setting the example to follow. He will shine like the stars forever.

He was born on January 17, 1936 in Red River Parish and went to his heavenly home July 23, 2025.

Papa was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Melba Davis, wife, Bettie Ann Davis and sisters, Virginia Adams, Dorothy Keller, and Margaret Wood.

Left to cherish his memory include his sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Teresa Davis and Tony and Judy Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and James Weaver, 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2025 in Social Springs Baptist Church from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M and Saturday before the funeral starting at 9:30 A. M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, July 26, 2025 in Social Springs Baptist Church with burial following in Social Springs Cemetery.  Officiating will be Bro. Scott Bates, Bro. Jack Bell, and Bro. Lee Dickson.  Services are under the direction of Rockett Funeral Home, Ringgold, LA.

The Pallbearers will be Bill Davis, Tony Davis, Justin Davis, Gabram Davis, James Weaver, Shea Bates, and Justin Miller.  Honorary pallbearers will be all great grandsons: Ayden Miller, Garrett Holcomb, Seth Pickett, Luke Bates, Taylor Bates, Jackson Bates, and Grant Colvin.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Clara Springs Baptist Camp, and Freeway Ministries in Springfield, Missouri.

Not sure what to say?

My prayers are with his family and all his friends.he was a good person and he will be missed.so many times he prayed fore when I was in the hospital.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

I was honored to have known this man. I’ve heard him preach at my church and what’s great preacher he was. I knew his daughter in law, Teresa, she taught my daughter in High School. I’m so sorry for ya’lls loss. Will be praying for each of you.

Will miss Uncle Billy’s big smile and strong hugs. He was a great blessing, loving uncle, man of God, who never met a stranger and was always a friend you could trust in and share with. Loved him and Aunt Bettie! Love to all the family, praying for each of you! With Uncle Billy being the last sibling there is a chapter closed. He lived life with a great example for all of us! Love you all, Terrell and Nelda sorry we are not able to attend this family gathering.

So sorry to hear of Billy's passing; yet, thankful for his many years of service to our Lord Jesus and others. He's Home now and how great his reward when he finally saw Jesus face-to-Face. We love you all. Here's praying God's Grace will sustain you all in a special way right now. God bless you.
