Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory - Ballwin Obituary

Billy Lee Moody Jr., 95, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord Dec. 30, 2025, at Friendship Village, Chesterfield. Born Oct. 25, 1930, to Rebecca and Billy Lee Moody Sr., in Verona, Mo., Bill attended Carthage High School and enlisted in the Air Force after graduation. He married his high school sweetheart Evelyn Lenore Frost during one of her visits to him at Lackland Air Force Base. They welcomed two children, Mark and Julie, during their marriage.

After his service, which included a year in Korea, Bill was honorably discharged and returned to Carthage. There he held a series of jobs ranging from motorcycle policeman to manager of The Boots Court motel, which is now a registered historic landmark on Route 66.

Bill used his GI Bill to begin his studies at Joplin Junior College before he and Lenore moved to Columbia, where he studied accounting, business administration and pre-law and developed a life-long passion for MIZZOU football.

After graduation, he worked at State Farm Insurance, then as an auditor for University of Missouri, which transferred him to University of Missouri St. Louis as director of fiscal operations. Bill also worked as a model for various magazines, promotions and film projects. Bill retired in 1995 and enjoyed traveling with Lenore to Gulf Shores and New Orleans, as well as San Antonio, TX, to celebrate their anniversary.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Lenore after 66 years together, daughter Julie Moody, grandson Eric Moody, brother Hartzell Harvey Blair, and nephew Joe Blair. He is survived by son Mark (Jo Ann) Moody, Wildwood; granddaughter Erin (Scott) Bowman, Beaufort, S.C.; granddaughter Michelle Moody, Chesterfield; grandson Chris Moody, Chicago; four great grandchildren, and nieces Vicki Fisher, Independence, and Dana Faerber, St. Louis.

Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Wednesday, Jan. 7, at 11:30 a.m. A Memorial Service will be at Friendship Village Chesterfield, 15201 Olive Boulevard, Thursday, Jan 8 at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Bill’s memory made be made to the Greater Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society St. Louis.
