Not sure what to say?

Coach Saunders was a true gentleman and role model for me during some of the most important formative years of my life. I gained a lot of confidence in myself because of his demands that we give the best that we could give. He inspired us with his humor and humility, and I will always remember him.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I have very fond memories of growing up next door to this wonderful family.

Dear Mrs. Saunders,
I'm so sorry to hear about your tremendous loss. You and Mr. Saunders were instrumental in so many of our high school lives. If you think you were merely athletic coaches, you are mistaken! You taught most of us to love God and love each other. . . without one sermon! We will always remember both of you, and thank you for being our cornerstones! With sympathy and much love, Lee Chisholm Merrick

Hi Charlene, Cindy, Russ, Shan and Chris,
Just wanted to let you know how much I looked up to your Dad. He always had a quick, gentle smile and seemed so happy whenever we saw him in Murray. I have been thinking about you all and send warm wishes to each of you. With love, Molly

Thank you, Coach, for all those good times we had after school and on Friday nights. I can still taste the Nutra-something we had to drink before the game. We were honored to represent you and our School out there. We will cherish those times forever

Mrs. Saunders and family our thoughts and prayers are with you. I knew Coach Saunders through coaching. He was a role model not only to those at Savannah Country Day, but to me a coach on the other side of the field. To so many of us in coaching he was the face of Savannah Country Day.

My heart goes out to the Saunder's Family. I was honored to have the opportunity to live next door to them for so many years while growing up. The memories will never end.

Dear Mrs. Saunders and family, please know that Coach Saunders and your family are in our prayers. Both Rusty and Jake called me immediately to ask about Coach. We all enjoyed telling "our" Coach Saunders stories. As is evident in this Guest Book, Coach Saunders was a Role Model for all who were blessed to know him. He had the ability to bring out the best in a person and this "coaching" taught me lessons that are applied on a daily basis. Our prayers and stories are with the Saunders...

Dear Friends,
Number me among the hundreds of Country Day athletes who have always recognized a lifelong debt of gratitude to Coach Saunders. Bill inspired me to play a game I didn't even like much, and play it well enough to makes a few stars among my football teammates. He was intuitively smart about how to motivate teenagers on the way to becoming young men. He was persistent, passionate and compassionate. Your obit, and the Savannah Morning News article were right on the mark. ...
