Born on Feb. 28, 1938 in Rockingham, he was the son of the late Monroe C. Smith and the late Lelia C. Smith.

I met Mr Smith in 1970 at Nationwide Insurance in Laurinburg North Carolina. I knew nothing about getting insurance for my first car. Mr Smith took me under his wings and sat me down and explained the importance of having car insurance, how much it will cost me, etc. After I left his office, I felt proud of having a friend like Mr Smith. RIP MY FRIEND
