Billy Steve Goodson, 69, was born in Bruce, MS, on Monday, May 3, 1954, to the late Billy Gene Goodson and Doris Clanton Goodson. He died on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Calhoun, in Calhoun City, MS, after a long illness.


Billy Steve was a graduate of Calhoun City High School (class of 1972) and attended Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, MS. He was a retired postal clerk of more than 25 years at the United States Postal Service of Calhoun City.  Billy Steve worshiped his Lord and Savior at Bruce Church of God of Prophecy and Taylor Church of God of Prophecy. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all of his heart. He was truly a dedicated servant to his family, church, and the community.


He was preceded in death by his parents Billy Gene and Doris Clanton Goodson; brother Leslie Gene Goodson; grandparents John and Maude Goodson, Edgar and Ettis Clanton; father-in-law Robert "Bob" Hardin Mann; stepfather-in- law Gordon Brasher; step grandparents Elmo and Kathleen Brasher; grandparents-in-law Winnie B. and Mittie Lou Adams and Richard and Annie Mann; and brother-in-law Robert Allen Mann.


He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, who he married April 18, 1981, Kathy Mann Goodson, Calhoun City, MS;  daughter Haley (Julian) Milam, Bruce, MS; son Steven Beau Goodson, Big Creek, MS; nieces: Amy Michelle Mann, Dawn Goodson, Kacey (Dillon) Angle(son,  Agnew) ; nephews: Dalton Mann and  Devin Douell, (daughters),  Emma Reece and Paisley) ; grandchildren: Lillian Kate Goodson, Madeline Elizabeth Goodson, Sawyer Beau Goodson, Mabry Adams Milam and Myles Avery Milam; mother-in-law, Hattie A. Brasher,  sister-in laws: Pat Goodson and Diane Goodson.


Visitation for Billy Steve will be Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM until service time at 3:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bishop Billy Adams and Bro. Rob Abel officiating.  Burial will follow in the Taylor Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery in Vardaman, MS. Serving as pallbearers will be: Barry Black, Kenny Dismuke, Kent Dye, Freddie Lindsey, Jerry Moore, Ronny Patterson, Jack Phillips, Bobby Webb, and Dale Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be: Terry Cook, Jimmy Cole, Allen Dickson, Joe McCain, Earnest Goodson, Thomas Earl Goodson, Pete Ward, and Richard Ward.
