VERTREES, Billy "Bill," of Midlothian, Va., formerly of Chicago, Ill., passed away on July 2nd. As a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, Bill will be remembered for his humor, dry wit, and enjoyment of crossword puzzles, Costco, and McDonalds. He was a lover of all dogs, but most especially Max. Some who will miss him greatly include his wife Kathy; daughters and their families; Jennifer Kibler; Jackie & Steve Rittenhouse with children Brittany & Shaughn; and Colleen & Ray Wallace, with children Samantha & Mathew; and his brother-in-law & wife Ed & Mary Kendzior. Bill graduated from the University of Oregon and was a retiree of both Sears and the Virginia Department of Corrections. Services will be held at Sycamore Presbyterian Church on Coalfield Rd. at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 9th. Donations in memory can be made to the American Lung Cancer Society. I worked for Bill in Sears Tower. He was my boss in my first real exec job with the company. A great boss and a great guy! Ill never forget having lunch with him at the Office on Vanburen. I tried to look him up several times over the years, especially when my son enrolled at Eugene with no luck. God bless!

I am so sorry to hear about Bill's passing. We will all miss him greatly at Costco.It won't be the same without hearing his "Two soda's my good man." catchphrase everyday. Emily and I will miss Bill tremendously. Bill was a fixture with our Loafs and Fishes group at our church. Once Bill started cutting up the hams to be served, you got out of his way. He had to taste each ham to make sure it was suitable to serve. Once, when I was organizing the Loafs and Fishes, I was concern about being short handed on help. Bill called me,while on vacation, to make sure we had help. He was willing to drive back to Richmond, while he was on vacation, to help serve. He was...
