Long live your memory Blackie. From a rhcp fanclub member in the 90s era

I first met Blackie as an actor in Hollywood in 1979. I was in a play production at the Hollywood Actors Theatre.. he was a friend of the director and producer Ron Bastone and his son Dondi... What a wild and crazy guy Blackie was!! He would come to rehearsals on a Friday night bearing tickets to shows at the Roxy, the Starwood, Grazarri's, and some of the other Rock clubs in and around Hollywood.... When I heard that he passed away I course thought about his son Anthony and the Red Hot...

I was aware Blackie had passed away but wasn't sure when. We exchanged many an email and written letters and notes when he was Head Honcho . What a joy he was to correspond with. He used to pop different photos in with his notes. I think I still have one of Anthony and James out on bikes, and the wolfedog.

Condolences to Blackie´s family and friends. He was such a character and a thoughtful man. I once sent a postcard to him at the fan club, stating Anthony´s then-girlfriend, Jaime Rishar, reminded me of a Hitchcock blonde - he sent back the postcard with her autograph on it, along with some fun casual pictures of the band. This fan was over the moon! And it turned out one of his girlfriends was a neighbor of mine back in Wisconsin. Small world. You certainly made your mark, Blackie. Rest easy.

Jack (preferably known as Blackie in homage to Dashiell Hammett) was a valued and loyal friend for over seventy-five years. He was always positive and supportive no matter the situation or endeavor. We met in our early high school years and, although living in distant places for most of our lives, nonetheless managed to reunite now in then in junior college, on trips to Florida and California, and well as getting together late in life in Grand Rapids to play some golf. We also visited several...

I worked with Blackie in Fall 1990 in a play at the GR Civic Theatre, Inherit the Wind. He was an awesome guy who treated me as if I were a colleague and not someone beneath him, just because he had experience with movies and television. He even gave me an autographed picture of himself and a script from the soap opera Santa Barbara. I heard he passed on, so he is now in a better place. Rest in Paradise, Blackie.

So sorry blackie passed on my birthday month last year & I didnt know til I saw a ig post mentioning his cremation. Blackie as head honcho treated me very nicely & made me feel important. I rejoined the fanclub not knowing things changed. He personally wrote me& sent me pictures of the band individually. The picture of Blackie in braids standing with Anthony is how I would like to remember him. May he rest in peace and my sympathies to his beloved family and friends.

Farewell my friend, I just found out you passed. Tell Alan I said hello and make a toast for me when you both meet back up Behind The Sun. Gonna miss you brother S~
