Broomhead Funeral Home - Riverton Obituary

Blaine Densley Holt passed away peacefully on December 2, 2016. Born October 19, 1927 in South Jordan, Utah to Samuel Adelbert Holt and Truby Hylanthia Densley. Graduate of Jordan High School. Member of the United States Navy, stationed in Guam, post-World War II, working in radio intelligence.
Returning from the service, he married his life-long sweetheart, Mary Beverly Garff on December 11, 1947, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Their union was blessed with three sons who were the light of their lives. Blaine spent his career managing the Semco (previously Draper) Wood Mill in Salt Lake City, retiring at age 80. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving faithfully for many years as a ward clerk and later as the baptismal coordinator alongside his wife. Blaine was an avid Jazz fan, so we learned not to visit when the game was on. He also loved camping, fishing and hunting.
Blaine was an example of pure Christ-like love as he so lovingly showed in the last year of his life, sacrificing his own comforts and desires to remain with his beloved Beverly in the memory care unit of their care center, just so they could be together. Theirs was a love story not soon to be forgotten.
Blaine is survived by his wife, Beverly; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Blaine and Coleen Carrigan Holt, Randy Mose and Mary Elva Luker Holt, 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, daughter-in-law Susan Carrigan Holt and son Kendall Adelbert Holt.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the LDS meetinghouse, 2550 W. 9800 S. South Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior. Interment at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park, Bluffdale, Utah. Thanks to Carrington Court for their tender care of both Mom and Dad. In lieu of flowers, hug your kids and offer them a tic-tac in honor of grandpa.

Not sure what to say?

Sorry to here of the passing of Blaine. What a genuine wonderful fellow. I work as the electrician when Semco expanded and Blaine was so great to work with, he will be greatly missed. My condolences go to your family. Don Rawlins

I have so many fond memories of camping, hunting and fishing with Blaine and Beverly when I was married to Kendall. They were more like best buddies than father and son. We always had so much fun visiting each other and we still carry on some of our favorite Holt traditions. I will miss Blaine and I know that he and Kendall are having fun again in Heaven. My thoughts and prayers are with the Holt family at this time and especially with Blaine's sweetheart Beverly.

In my younger years I would regularly visit with uncle Blaine & and aunt Bev with my mom and dad, Larry and Florene Holt. They were both so welcoming and you knew you were loved by both. As the two brothers (Blaine and Larry) grew older it seemed those visit became less and less but even with that my dad always talked about his brother and knew that he was loved by Blaine. As Larry grew weaker I knew that when I called Blaine he would be at his brothers side at the drop of a hat with that...

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad.
Take care of yourself.

With sadness we learn of the passing from our family, the pioneer family of Marie Jacobsen Garff Gudmundsen. Surely we at a distance will not know the daily loss, but you who do we assure of our continuing thoughts and prayers.

So Sorry to hear about your Father's passing. I have fond memories of our days in the Midvale 2nd and 9th Wards. We had some good times. It is sad to see our parents pass away. They will always be remembered in our hearts. My prayers and love go out to you. MaryAnne (Beratto) johnson
