Blaine Whipple

I never met you, sir, but found this obit while looking up family members of my old school friends, Stewart Leslie and Julie Whipple whom I guess were cousins or nephew and nieces of yours. I lived in Oregon at the time you served there in government. Thanks for the devotion, and I admire the devotion to the family tree/forest. How good of you to maintain that for future generations.

We will miss him, and are greatful for his work as a charter member of the GSWCO.

During his years at the U of MN, Blaine was known as Bob. We were both in journalism classes, and became friends. It was fun to become reacquainted on facebook and learn about his long career. Condolences to his family. He was a nice, funny guy!

Uncle Blaine was a kind, compassionate man that only wanted the very best for people. Our family, and the generations that follow, will be forever grateful for the years of research he invested, and his subsequent publishing, of our family history. Some family's have a "family tree." Blaine was a good friend during the UofO Journalism days and times later here in Portland. He was always fun and fascinating. Remember playing golf one day. He was driving. We left the course and were rear-ended by a nitwit driver. Whip (as I called him) didn't even get mad. To him it was just another problem to solve. He was a delight.

God rest Blaine and Ines souls. The world has lost two wonderful people.

If I wrote down all the wonderful memories I have shared with my brother Blaine I would fill a book-but he was the writer in our family. I have always looked up to my brother, in fact as a child I was certain he would become the president of our United States. That didn't happen of course, but I have still always admired, respected and most important, Loved him!!! I MISS HIM SO VERY MUCH.
